Limits to your knowledge…. Limits to your life.

EVERYONE has limitations in life! You do! I do! Everyone you and I know does.

The limitations in our lives are directly proportional to the limits of our knowledge.

The point you are in your life right now is as a result of what you know. Rich or poor, brilliant or dull, happy or sad, influential or ineffectual, it’s all a direct result of how much you know.

There are several limits in every part of our lives that hinder us, circumstances that draw us back from achieving our goals and fulfilling our dreams. These usually present themselves as insurmountable obstacles that cannot be overcome, hence, we say our dreams cannot be achieved, we are reaching too high or our dreams are too big. These limits can be our finances, relationships, time, environment, circumstances or our level of education.

No dream is too big to achieve. It’s what you know that opens doors to you.

I heard of the story of Dayo some years back. Dayo had a dream, he had a ‘big’ dream so to speak but there were ‘limits’ to him achieving these goals.

Dayo wanted to be a lawyer, but he was from a very poor home. His parents were absolutely indigent and they could not afford to send him to the university so he gave up on his dream. If he had a knowledgeable person around him, he could have been informed that if he did well in secondary school, he could have applied for a scholarship and won it; he could have reached out to organizations that specialize in scholarships, and today he could have been a lawyer. How sad, one lawyer less in the society simply due to the lack of know-how. Today, he is a cab driver and feels dissatisfied whenever he sees people in wig and gown. Knowledge made the difference in his life.

Limits to your knowledge is limit to your quality of life, limits to your knowledge is limits to your earnings, limits to your knowledge is limits in your marriage, limits to your knowledge is limits to how you train your children, limits to your knowledge is the limits to your influence and impact, and limits to your knowledge is limits to achieving your dreams.

There’s a saying in the bible that I always apply to every situation in life and I have found it to be accurate over time. It says, “my people perish for lack of knowledge”, which I find very apt. I want to liken perish in this instance to limited money, limited influence and limited breakthrough. ‘My people have limited money, limited influence and limited breakthrough for lack of knowledge.’

Knowledge is very essential in every situation in life, it is necessary if we are to have any lasting impact on our generation.

For example, a mother needs to know how to care for a baby to be a good mother; we all need to know how to make money from our communities. Young graduates need to know how to present themselves as productive workers, we need to know people everywhere as we grow older, we need to know how to negotiate, how to buy and sell, how to get funding from banks and other sources, how to manage a home, how to maintain a car, how to drive, etc there are millions of things we need to know in order to take the limits off our lives and the time to start knowing is now.

In these days of the internet, knowing opportunities are easily within reach on our phones, computers and tablets. To know more, we can learn from mentors and teachers, magazines and books and also from just observing.

Therefore, whenever you have an opportunity to learn, actively do so, because those things you learn will determine the scope of your wealth and influence. Know that, whenever you learn, you earn.

Every scrap of knowledge you garner is akin to money earned, just like money in the bank, saving for the future.

Imagine that every new thing learnt is like a dollar earned. So if in a day, you learn three hundred new things, these are three hundred dollars in the bank. Three hundred dollars earned in a day, just from learning, that’s cool money.

So, start thinking limitless.
